Tipping Your Wedding Vendors
Updated: Jun 21, 2021
The dreaded and daunting task...tipping! Although often not required or even expected, tipping is a custom for wedding vendors, so here is a guide for you to follow. This will give you an idea of just about how much to tip that wedding vendor that went above and beyond for your wedding!

Photographer/Videographer
If a photographer or videographer works for a large company it is custom to tip them $100 to $200. If they work for themselves, no tip is necessary, but rather a nice gesture.
Florist & Baker
Neither the florist or the baker expect tips.
Caterer
Food is one of the most crucial aspects of a wedding. Tip your caterer 15% to 20% of the food bill.
Officiant
Often if your officiant is affiliated with a church, they will simply ask for a donation to the church. Donating up to $300 is customary. For officiants not affiliated with a church, you should tip from $50 to $100.
DJ/Musician
Tip your DJ and/or musician 10% to 15% of their total bill. The DJ or musician sets the mood for the entire night, so be sure to show your appreciation. If you hire a band, consider tipping $30 to $50 per band member for the night.
Wedding Planner/Coordinator
Wedding planners and coordinators often do not receive tips, but you may choose to tip them 15% to 20% of their bill if they went above and beyond for you leading up to or on your wedding day.

Waiters, Waitresses, & Bartenders
You should tip your wait staff around $20 per person and your bartender 15% to 20% of the bill. You may also put out a tip jar at the bar for your guests to contribute to.
Rental Delivery Staff
Tipping anywhere from $10 to $20 per person is customary for set-up and breakdown crew members. They work hard to make your day perfect.
Transportation
It is customary to tip any transportation services 15% to 20% of the bill. They get you where you need to be safely, so show your appreciation with a nice tip.
Hair & Make-Up
These professionals make you look beautiful on your wedding day, so show them how much you appreciate their services with a 15% to 20% tip.
Tipping wedding vendors is not necessary, and often not expected, but with this list you will be sure to know how much to tip each vendor for exceptional service. They will appreciate it just as much as you appreciated their service.
